Watercolour
Watercolour is closely connected to memory and my early life in Ukraine. In art school, my teacher Bohdan Bodnaruk taught me to see colour truly and gave me a simple idea that still guides my practice: “If you do not know how to paint, look at nature.”
I continue to work through direct observation of the world around me. My work is not about planned compositions, but about movement, presence, and responding to what I see in the moment. I often use handmade and Japanese papers. Their texture changes the way the image develops. Water, ink, and salt move freely across the surface, creating unexpected forms and keeping the process open and alive.
