Crucifixion Розп'яття

The tapestry Crucifixion is influenced by hand-made Ukrainian ritual crosses dating back hundreds of years from the picturesque Hutsul region of Ukraine. The canvas features two-vector textile technique that enhances perception of composition. I created three copies of this tapestry for special orders, and it continues to inspire.

Гобелен «Розп'яття» створений на основі ручних українських обрядових хрестів двохсотлітньої давнини з надзвичайно колоритного регіону -Гуцульщини.

Полотно об'єднує в собі двохвекторну текстильну тектоніку і цим підсилює сприймання композиції. Робота виконувалась тричі на замовлення і вона продовжує мене надихати.

The Holy Family

A family…is Sacred.

It must be closed from everyone around. It is your own temple or monastery that must refine in the process of construction. Not all the bricks are perfect in it, but don't focus on those. What is important is the integrity and might of this temple. Everything redundant will disappear.

A Holy Family ... What can be more majestic?

Let us cultivate and nurture this spirituality in ourselves, because we have the paradigm to strive to.

Родина - вона Свята. Й повинна бути закритою для усіх навколо. Це власний храм чи монастир, який будуючись, повинен вдосконалюватися в процесі. І не всі цеглини ідеальні в ньому, та на них не варто зосереджуватись. Важливa тільки цілісність і могутність цього храму. А те, що зайве - відпаде в процесі. Свята Родина... Чи може бути щось величнішe! Виховуймо й плекаємо цю святість у собі і ми, бо ж маємо на що рівнятись.

UKRAINE Panorama of my Orchard in Kovalivka Village

Once again, I am infinitely grateful to House&Garden magazine for presenting another one of my tapestries, "Panorama of my Orchard in Kovalivka Village."

As a Ukrainian, I find it tremendously important to pursue all avenues to speak about Ukraine as loudly as possible. Each of us should do what is within our power, to pour in our skill, talent, and ability; "if everyone gives a thread, the poor man will have a shirt."

Originally this publication was planned before the war, but it has become increasingly important to showcase my work as a way to speak out about Ukraine. More than ever, every thread counts to fight against the ruthless and racist occupiers.

Я знову безмежно вдячна лондонському журналу House &Garden за представлення мого гобелену “Панорама в моєму рідному селі Ковалівка…».

Для мене, як українки, це важливо в першу чергу тому, що про Україну зараз треба говорити як ніколи голосно з усіх можливих платформ. І кожен повинен робити те, що може зробити на своєму місці,  своїми уміннями і талантами і всі ці вклади долучаться, як «нитка до нитки і буде бідному  сорочка», в одну велику загальну  ціль і мету - ПЕРЕМОГУ над одвічним катом і окупантом рашистом.

Ця публікація була запланована ще до війни але, вважаю, що її актуальність лише підсилюється в умовах сьогодення.

I’ve been thinking about setting up an online shop for my artwork for a long time, but it took a long time to understand how everything works. I held back until now. 

Currently, there is hardship for all Ukrainians, and they urgently need our help right now. We are all called to contribute in any way we can for Ukraine, and we should continue our support until Ukraine is free from war and no longer innocent lives are lost.

As a Ukrainian, I want to contribute to my homeland during these challenging times. So I’ve finally opened an online shop where I am selling my prints and original watercolour paintings, and all proceeds from these artworks will directly support Ukraine. I hope that these works will not only bring beauty and colour into your space but also as a way of showing support and hope for Ukraine.

Я вже давно думаю про те, щоб відкрити свій онлайн магазин,але це вимагало багато часу, щоб зрозуміти як все працює, тому й відкладалося в довгий ящик. Зараз настав час. Прийшли найтяжчі часи для усіх українців і вони потребують величезної допомоги в усіх сферах життя. Ми,кожен на своєму місці, покликані внести свою лепту і ця допомога не повинна бути одноразовою, вона мусить тривати до того часу, поки розтерзана Україна не відновиться від цих шалених втрат і не залікує всі свої болючі рани. Foreboding Передчуття #standwithukraine #nowar #blog

Part of the Street Art Textile project in downtown Toronto, “Foreboding” has all the elements of spontaneous drive behind it: it was conceived in one day and brings forward bright, contrasting colours amplified by wide brush strokes that add distinctiveness to this abstract composition.

This tapestry laid unfinished for a few months. At the time of creation, October 2021, I was disturbed by the strong imagery it offered. The uncanny resemblance between the red stripes present in this work and streams of flowing blood left me perplexed and searching for answers.

Now that rivers of innocent blood are flooding the streets of Ukraine, I was able to reconnect to this work and complete what turned into “Foreboding”, a tapestry that I have come to interpret as a vivid premonition of the impending violence now ripping through my native land.

I am excited to share that you can find my work in April’s issue of the London-based magazine, House & Garden. The artwork featured in this issue is of my tapestry, Energy, which took me almost six months to complete. While working on this large-format piece, I could feel powerful energy impulses that subconsciously produced unconventional combinations of techniques. Most interestingly, to my surprise, this piece has a 3-D element, which illustrates the power of energy, not constricted to spatial dimensions. Using a combination of fiery colours amplifies the essence of this composition. This artwork also has an intriguing improvisation in a textile that reminds me of jazz, expressing the sense of my most inner feelings aligned with the “think outside the box” concept.

Keep standing, keep resisting, keep praying for peace. The whole world is with us.

God Almighty.  Do you hear the voice... the tender voice that calls softly and points to the genuine, pure and true path.  Stop for a moment, open your heart - and you will hear it.

We are the tree of life that has roots sprouted from the core of the Earth with the potential and juice from the planet that formed our foundation – our mighty trunk for flowering and fruiting.

Although we are all very different, we are all still species on this Earth and together we form the Divine Garden in which everything is born and there is a place for everything. So let’s take care of our garden and nurture every tree in it – because the sun shines equally for everyone!

Важливо, щоб легкість  булa на душі і світло виходило від тебе наче промені та торкалося інших, і передавалось далі - як хвилі по воді.

We should celebrate every chance we get to create art.  We should take those opportunities every day - all you need is a desire to create.  Even some brief moments that you use for arts will reward you with wonderful emotions and a great pleasure.  Just as an aromatic cup of coffee in the company of the soul does not require a lot of time or effort - just a desire.

Тому що кожна нагода творити - уже є свято. І влаштовуй його хоч щодня, як є бажання. Навіть якийсь найкоротший час, відведений для творчості, дарує чудові емоції і задоволення. Так, ніби філіжанка запашної кави в душевному товаристві - не потребує ні багато часу, ні зусиль - просто бажання.

Iдею - кольорами i формами. A як точнішe й глибше, то ще щось, скажімо,  між рядками. A, може, і навпаки - ці кольори і форми, лише для того, щоб сховати справжній зміст. І те, що між рядками знаєш лишe ти і ще, можливо, хтось зуміє прочитати, для кого створено воно.

I feel that I am a lucky person - I am happy to have an ability to feel subilties, sometimes even too much about the world around me.  Art helps me notice beauty even in my everyday routine.  It helps me explore my own self deeper and deeper.  It gives me answers to my own questions.  It is such an essential part of me - I perceive everything around me through its prism and often I notice moments that fascinate me with their genuine simplicity, which motivate and inspire me.

I cannot imagine myself without art, perhaps because I was given the gift at birth - to be an artist.

Мистецтво... Що воно значить для мене…

Я почуваюся щасливою людиною, тому що маю здатність відчувати дуже тонко і, інколи навіть занадто, навколишній світ. Мистецтво дозволяє мені бачити навіть в буденнiй рутині свою красу. Також воно допомагає мені пізнавати себе все глибше і глибше. Часто воно дає мені відповіді на мої ж питання. Воно настільки глибоко в мені, що все кругом я сприймаю через його призму і часто помічаю якісь кадри, які захоплюють мене геніальною простотою і спонукають до дії.

Я просто не уявляю себе без нього, напевно тому, що мені був подарований дар при народженні - бути в мистецтві.

At times it just happens you are walking along a nice road with lots of people and cars and somehow it's always a green light for you, at every intersection.

 And you start wondering if everything is okay with the traffic lights, or maybe you are just in luck?  For the most part, you are in luck.  But at the same time, there is something bigger.

 This sequence of lucky coincidences or circumstances gives a great clue that you have chosen the right path for yourself.  Conquering it is like playing a game that you really enjoy.  And so you move forward with ease.

 When you notice such lucky coincidences, go fearlessly!  Your own guide will not let you down!

Часом буває так - ідеш, немовби, по чудовiй, переповнений людьми і машинами дорозі, і чомусь, зелене світло завжди світить для кожного наступного переходу.

І сам себе запитуєш, чи все в порядку з світлофорами, чи, може, так тобі щастить…? Умовно кажучи щастить, але водночас є й щось більше.
Ця послідовність збігів чи обставин є чудовою підказкою, що ти обрав для себе правильну дорогу. Долаючи її - ти ніби граєшся і вона тобі у задоволення, і з легкістю ти йдеш вперед.

Тому, побачивши  такі умовні збіги, сміливо йди!  Твій власний провідник тебе не підведе!

This is the simple truth, but why is it so hard to take the first step and knock?  Perhaps the hardest part is to find the door that is right for you.  As there are so many choices, so many doors... pick a wrong one, and you will face the wall.  It would lead to yet another disappointment.  Pick the right door, the one before you, and you will enter a bright path with road signs and a guide.

Do not be afraid, do not hesitate.  Knock.  The choice is yours!

В ранковій тиші почути можеш суть і істину. А що найважливіше – підтвердження того, для чого ти прийшов у Світ цей загалом, а ще, і це важливо, – як будувати день насущний свій і як розкласти пріоритети, щоб шум, перебивання, чужі ідеї і бажання не взяли верх.

When a new life is born, what are the thoughts of its mother? Probably that is happened out of joy – she is blissfully happy and rejoicing.

She perceives the greatness of this moment and greets this strange mystery, which is probably impossible to know.

Perhaps very remotely, but also similarly, a work of art is born. It matured, is born and is being born in its own understanding.

The birthing process is possible both in spontaneity and agony: long and lingering.

What was born in torment becomes more valuable – just like a newborn baby that came into this world with difficulty.

Коли народжується нове життя, що думається матері…

Напевно з радості, що відбулося це - просто блаженно тішиться й радіє.

Вона сприймає велич цього дійства і пізнає цю дивну таїну, яку, напевно, і неможливо до кінця пізнати.

Можливо дуже віддалено, але й подібно, народжується твір мистецтва. Він визрівав, виношувався і вже народжується, в своєму розумінні.

Процес народження можливий як спонтанний, так і в муках: довгий і затяжний.  І те, що народилося у муках стає ціннішим. Так само як і новонароджене дитя, яке прийшло у світ нелегко.

Devastation.
It seems that everyone at certain moments in life: after loss, of the closest people or relationships, as a rule, feels something completely different than usual. It is a feeling of desolation, a feeling of complete emptiness. This feeling comes after you have experienced stress and awareness of what happened, then a sharp and long pain, like a burn, and later, when the tears are crying and the heart is broken, the mind is puzzled or tired, you seem to have given everything, already you have nothing but emptiness and peace. Yes, like the sea after a storm.
At this turning point, it is important not to make mistakes. It is like a crossroads. And it is important to choose the right path. After all, there are many temptations: alcohol, drugs, meaningless relationships, etc. But there are also many new opportunities that you do not want to plunge into self-pity and despair. But there is also this: you discover something completely new in yourself, seemingly not peculiar to you. A grand idea, exactly the one that wandered in the subconscious, a hitherto unknown talent, and a different vision of the world around us. You are like a spectator in a hall, you passively look at the stage and see yourself in one or another role from the side, without emotions, you just see. And do not hurry, just let it happen because it must be inevitable, accept it as it is and move forward for a new goal. Everything has its time.
After the end, a new beginning will come again.

Спустошення.

Здається, що кожен  в певні моменти життя: після втрати, як правило, чи то найближчих людей, чи то стосунків, відчуває щось абсолютно інакше, ніж завжди. Це відчуття спустошення, відчуття повної порожнечi. Це відчуття приходить після того, коли ти пережив стрес і усвідомлення того, що відбулося, потому гострий і довгий біль, подібний на опік, а вже пізніше, коли сльози виплакані, а серце розбите, розум спантеличений чи втомлений, ти ніби все віддав, уже нічого не маєш - лиш пустота і спокій. Так, ніби море після шторму.

В цей переломний момент важливо не схибити. Він - як роздоріжжя. І важливо вибрати правильну дорогу. Адже є багато спокус: алкоголь, наркотики, беззмістовні стосунки і т.д. Та є також багато нових можливостей, в які не хочеться поринати через жаль до себе і зневіру. Але ще є і таке: ти відкриваєш у собі щось абсолютно нове, здавалося б, не властивe тобі. Грандіозна ідея, саме та, що блукала в підсвідомості, незнаний досі талант, a ще - інакше бачення навколишнього світу. Tи - як глядач у залі, пасивно дивишся на сцену і бачиш себе у тій чи іншій ролі збоку,  вже без емоцій, просто бачиш. І не спіши, просто дозволь відбутись тому, що має бути, неминучому, прийми як є і йди  вперед вже за новою ціллю. На все свій час. 

Після кінця обов’язково йде початок знову.

It affects everything that we do, think, see, comprehend, feel and assume.  It can swing to such extremes that I find it difficult to understand how it is even possible. For a creative and observant person, it is like a movie theatre, where each film is seen differently, depending on its audience. 

You create differently in different states of mind;  your perception, interpretation, and emotions all depend on your state of mind.  You can address the same idea from many different perspectives and all of them are genuine, honest, and sincere in that special moment.

 A state of mind affects the projection of light and its focus. It shapes what will be the main idea for today.

Про стан душі.

Від нього залежить все, що ми робимо, думаємо, бачимо, розуміємо, відчуваємо, допускаємо і т.д. Він буває в таких полярних амплітудаx, що тяжко деколи збагнути як таке можливе.

Для особистості творчої і спостережливої - це ніби кінозал, де кожен фільм є різним зі своєю аудиторією.

Відповідно до кожного стану душі і творчість різнa, різне сприйняття і трактування. Висвітлення якоїсь теми можливе з усіх ракурсів, і всі вони правдиві і щирі у той момент.

Від стану душі залежить куди направлений проектор світла і, що сьогодні буде основним.

With the first rays of the sun or even earlier, I wake up and enjoy this simply Divine time of fullness. 

This is a great time to concentrate my thoughts and direct them to further plans. In this time ideas are born easily and abundantly.

It's as if they have crept up, stealthily, and waited for a moment of peace, to shine and be born, like the first ray of the sun - very gentle. 

This is also a great time for introspection and criticism, for a clear daily setting of priorities and tasks. It's time to prepare yourself for the different situations that will take place. The best time for creativity and learning. This is the time of the morning dew, which nourishes the earth; it is also a time of unsurpassed bird singing and the fragrance of wildflowers and gardens. This is the time of which there is never enough.

З першими променями сонця або і ще раніше я прокидаюсь і насолоджуюсь цією просто Божественною порою сповна. Це чудовий час для концентрації своїх думок і спрямування їх в подальшi плани. В цю пору дуже рясно і легко народжуються ідеї. Вони так, ніби  крадькома, підібралися і ждали миті спокою, щоб блиснути i народитись як перший промінь сонця, дуже ніжний. Також чудовий час для самoаналізу і критики, для чіткої установки щоденних пріоритетів і завдань. Це час для підготовки себе до різних ситуацій, які відбудуться. Найкращий час для творчості й навчання. Це час ранкової роси, що живить землю, і це також час неперевершеного пташиного співу і аромату польових квітів і садів. Це той час якого завжди  замало.
